The internal structure of our physical AI designed shoes is sophisticated, developed with shapes like triangles holding the material together to ensure the wearer has a comfortable fit experience. The typical 3D printed product is produced from a material on top of material approach that often creates a hard plastic result. While this is sufficient for many applications, it isn't suitable for footwear.
Inside Is Sophisticated Like Outside
We often overlook the amount of effort that goes inside the products we have. The outside of a computer is beautiful and elegant, whereas the inside appears like a world of its own to many. This is similar with our Xplorer physical AI shoes, the outside gives little to signal that the inside is incredibly well planned out and executed with precise structures and angles to ensure support and flex.

3D Printed Is Very Comfortable
This process rethinks the traditional layer by layer approach, which makes the comfort of our Syntilay Xplorer slide incredible and removes entirely the feeling of hard plastic. Rather, the TPU plastic shoe has increased support and flexibility as shown in the image below. Our designer additionally interweaved mesh comfort into the design to compliment the thicker TPU material for added comfort.
The misconception that 3D printed shoes must be hard or are similar to other 3D printed plastic objects is simply false. Thanks to the rapid innovations in the space, we are at a point that 3D printed shoes offer an unrivaled comfort experience due to scan to fit technology. Each Syntilay Xplorer slide is scanned to fit you perfectly to your measurements of length and width. Previous issues of slippage and more that can result in foot injuries are generally avoided with a fit that is specially developed to your exact shape of feet. Scan to fit technology is disruptive and now more known with the Xplorer model of AI designed shoes.

3D Printing Makes AI Physical Design Real
When developing a new design with AI doing the majority of the creation, we needed a method that would be able to capture the incredible capabilities of AI and put that into a final physical form that was authentic. 3D printing was the only route that made this possible to the fullest extent and we partnered with Zellerfeld to do so. The nearly unlimited capabilities of physical AI design with 3D printing are impressive and exciting. It enables us to develop designs that were previously Sci-Fi and concept only, but can now be commercially viable.

The image above showcases a similar method of how our shoe was printed. The optimal manner to 3D print AI shoes, especially with the innovative ways AI designs shoes that push limitations, is to print on a slant with supportive plastic printed alongside the smartly structured plastic structure that the shoe is made of. Once the print is done, the support white material above is discarded, broken off, and the shoe is entirely in its form. If the shoe was printed without the support material, it would not hold up correctly and complex design likely would be difficult. The process is the standard for all our Xplorer AI slides and has demonstrated great results throughout out prototype phase and release of the first commercially available AI designed slide shoe.

Innovation Must Be Widespread
As discussed here in USA TODAY, we made the first available to the public AI designed slide shoes, a breakthrough in what you are able to currently purchase and wear. The article highlights the multiple stages of AI developing the shoe including concept image creation with Midjourney, Vizcom AI generation of the sketch to 3D render, and more. What it excellently captures is the excitement this innovation brings to the footwear category. We are at a point where content creators are the new individuals the youth aspires to be like and they sell all types of merch yet generally never sell shoes. Our approach at Syntilay is to empower a new generation of talent and brands to creatively express themselves by developing their own shoes so people who want to be like them can walk in their shoes!
AI + 3D Printing Unlocks Creativity In Talent
The previous mold, designer, and inventory costs have been prohibitive for established brands to back new talent that has less of a track record in the footwear industry. With our AI design and 3D printing method, we do not have typical molds, design is mostly automated, and there is no inventory as all is print on demand. This changes the landscape for creators and new age brands, enabling their entry into the highly sought after category.

AI Designed Shoes Made Real
It is important to recognize that we are at a major shift fashion and footwear creation and AI likely will play an ever increasing role in how new products are designed, developed, and brought to market. Footwear has an opportunity to embrace AI designed shoes and with Syntilay's Xplorer AI shoes, consumers now have a chance to be apart of the revolution!
